Greates battle of WW2

as the topic says, im interested which battle of WW2 is the most glorius win for you.

for me its the Battle For Stalingrad. why? the Russians fought bravely, even tho they didnt had weapons for most troops. even if the german forces captured 90% of Stalingrad, they didnt give up, they reclaimed all of the city back and even captured a fieldmarshal. in this battle they were alone, Russians vs. germans and some other axis nations. they won the battle, even if they had millions of loses. they fought for freedom and thats whyt realy counts.

I'm agree with you. It was great battle. Did you see movie "The enemy at the gates"? I like it. Battle For Stalingrad. Battle two great snipers. I think this battle desided that Europe was free.

yeah, the Russians broke hitlers army, trust and morale of his soldiers.

The Russians were smart and retreated to the cold north.
Germany couldnt handle it, so they were pushed back again, really mentall

well i will always say that battles where polish troops was active were the greatest but im polish so you know how it works anyway look at Monte casino,Tobruk,Battle of England everywhere polish troops fight bravely and decided the end of battle but you know i love poland and i will always say we are great even we was crushed in month by germany and USSR in 1939 (germany ataccked at 1.09.1939(begining of WWII and USSR ataccked poland at 17.09.1939 as german allied))

Yugoslavian partizans also helped bring down hitler, but the greatest battles our people have fought were nothing against all the other battles.

yeah in poland we had partizans too but i mean regular polish army in english army and tobruk or monte casino wasn't little battles anyway i hear german officer opinion that in poland they was fear of citys and in yugoslavia they was in fear out of citys so our partizans was great wolf

I am not sure if you could even say something is the greatest battle in the WWII. Many great battles have been fought, in my opinion, you put the close victory of the russians above the close battle of England. Both have been crucial turning-points in history.

there were a few main battles that turned the tide, one was el alamein, another was stalingrad. i read an interesting thing that when hitler attacked russia, russians retreated but destroyed everything on the way, forcing germany to have long supply lines

however hitler actually wanted to attack russia several months earlier. but he was forced to attack when he did because of the italians. Mussolini wanted to prove italy's strength to hitler so wanted to attack and defeat a weak nation (if that even makes any sense) so he decided to attack Greece. after taking a small amount of northern Greece, the Greeks retaliated and wiped out the italian forces and started chasing after them. hitler then had to help out on mussolini's problem. hitler eventually took Greece and went back to russia, and lost. did you know that hitler ordered the release of all Greek POW's?

Yugoslavian army was crushed in 11 days, but Partizans totaly destroyed germans army in Yugoslavia

Hitler's army was so fast becouse their blitzkrieg was perfect. Yuogslavia in 11 days. Dutch in 5 days. France in 16 days i think. (I can be wrong. I don't remember it) Anyway they were very good fixed up. In the start of the WW2 his army couldn't be defeat by others.

yeah, thats cauz all the allies excepted position battle again (trenches).

thats why hitler used blitzkrieg, he didnt want to have a war caught up in trenches again. and its easy to see why

However, he became a little over-confident. Russia is very big, it was sort of foolish to think he could take it over with blitzkrieg in a few days.

btw yeah Napoleon was folled by russians only country which occupated Mosscov was Poland ofcourse but it was in 1608-1610 so pretty long ago

Hitler did same mistake as Napoleon. In Russia is too cold for them. Russian soldiers was ready for cold winter.

Too, the communistic world revolution was one part, another military reason would be to create a zone, so Russia will be save in the future. Because it's true, when the russians pulled back, they burned the land down, and the germans did the same.

Well I think that the Winter War between Russia and Finland was pretty awesome.

Finland, Russia

130 Aeroplanes, 3 800 Aeroplanes

The war lasted 113 days and during it finnish people inveted the Molotov Cocktail (used against Russian tanks). Finland fought alone without any good help (expect the 35 aeroplanes that Italia gave pretty late) and evetually lost the war. Poland offered their help, but there were some political risks so it couldn't be accepted.

yeah true finnish people also can fight i always admire finnish people for that war
